About Sarah

Sarah has been interested in educating, empowering, and supporting families in preparation for childbirth since her first pregnancy, during which she became fascinated by the strength and knowledge of the birthing body. With a background in special education, she pursued certification as a Childbirth Educator after the birth of her second child, recognizing that access to evidence-based information is crucial for people navigating their childbearing journey. Sarah began attending births to support participants from her classes, and after two years of working in this capacity, trained as a birth doula with DONA in October 2019.

Sarah celebrates the role of interpersonal relationships and communication in determining what support each person and family needs to meet the shifting demands of pregnancy, childbirth, and the newborn period, and feels honored to be welcomed into the intimate space of such transformative experiences. Sarah teaches at Albany Medical Center, Sage-Femme Midwifery, Community Maternity Services, the Family Life Center, and privately, and has supported families from all these settings, recognizing the wide range of birth experiences that exist. She is prepared to support that variety by integrating the preferences, personalities, and relationships of those she supports with evidence-based information, experience, and a network of professionals to help each person achieve a unique, safe, empowering, and satisfying birth experience.
